Societe Generale debuts US single stock warrants on Hong Kong Stock Exchange

25/07/2024

Societe Generale is pleased to announce the listing of a series of US single stock derivative warrants (DWs) in Hong Kong, making it the first issuer in the market that covers eight US stock underlyings including the Magnificent Seven (Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

As of 22 July 2024, Societe Generale has listed a total of 25 derivative warrants tracking US single stocks on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX). The newly introduced US DWs aim to meet the growing demand of Hong Kong retail investors, who are actively seeking opportunities to invest in US stocks during the same time zone as Asia.

Keith Chan, Head of Cross Asset Listed Distribution for Asia Pacific at Societe Generale, said, “As a leading issuer in Hong Kong’s listed structured products market, we always look for ways to diversify our offerings to meet retail investors’ investment needs amid changing market conditions. With the latest listing, investors are able to trade these US stocks during Hong Kong trading hours, via derivative warrants, to increase their exposure or manage risk in their existing portfolio, allowing them to stay one step ahead of the curve.”

For the past 28 years serving the Hong Kong warrants market, Societe Generale constantly innovates its product offerings, providing a wide range of listed products including warrants and callable bull/bear contracts (CBBCs) for investors to capture market opportunities.

Mass retail has been one of Societe Generale’s core focuses in Asia for the past two years. The Bank first debuted its Daily Leverage Certificates in Singapore in 2017 and later expanded its offering to US indices underlying in 2022. It also partnered with the Singapore Exchange to launch the first-ever autocallable structured certificates in Asia last year.

The latest listing of US single stock warrants is another milestone as the bank continues to expand its distribution business in Asia.
