Record-breaking EUR 3 billion dual-tranche bond offering for Indonesia
The largest-ever Euro bond offering out of Asia, and the largest ever Euro bond offering by a non-European sovereign
The Republic of Indonesia successfully issued a dual-tranche 3 billion Euro bonds in June 2016, in which Societe Generale acted as one of the Joint Bookrunners and Joint Lead Managers.
The record-breaking transaction was the largest ever Euro bond offering out of Asia; the largest ever Euro bond offering by a non-European sovereign; the Republic of Indonesia’s largest Euro bond offering to date and its first dual-tranche Euro bond offering.
This transaction was significant to The Republic of Indonesia as it was executed in line with its funding roadmap for 2016 and the issuer’s ongoing efforts to further diversify its global investor base. Diversifying funding sources across currencies and geographies, as well as building long-term relationship with global investors will contribute to the long-term development of The Republic of Indonesia.
Today, Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and the world’s 10th largest economy in terms of purchasing power parity, and a member of the G-201. The World Bank projects the country’s GDP growth of 5.1% in 2016 and 5.3% in 20172.
Following The Republic of Indonesia’s 1.25 billion euro bond offering in 2015, this landmark transaction has once again exhibited Societe Generale’s expertise in debt capital markets to support the issuer’s future development.
