Notice on Severe Weather Trading (SWT) day arrangements in Hong Kong

From 23 September 2024, during severe weather conditions1, our clients can continue to benefit from all services offered by Societe Generale in Hong Kong with the exception of paper cheque processing2

We will align with the Hong Kong Exchange and Clearing Limited’s (HKEX) implementation of Severe Weather Trading (SWT) day3 arrangements to maintain normal operations of the Hong Kong securities and derivatives markets during severe weather conditions1. More details can also be found on the HKEX website for the relevant services.

There is no change to the arrangements in other markets. For further information or assistance, please contact your Societe Generale representative.

1. “Severe weather conditions” refer to Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, a Black Rainstorm Warning, or when an “extreme conditions” announcement is made by the HKSAR Government.

2. Paper cheques will not be collected, cleared or processed during a SWT day3. Paper cheques collected before the cut-off time of the last working day prior to a SWT day3 will continue to be cleared and processed as usual.

3. A “SWT day” generally refers to any day from Monday to Friday, except a Hong Kong public holiday, on which severe weather conditions1 apply. For the derivatives markets, a SWT day may include a Hong Kong public holiday which is a derivatives holiday trading day for selected derivatives products.
